Pre-Production Report-Individual-

08/02/10-

From looking at the storyboard and how we wanted the production to look, we realised that we would have to change some shots within the production. Firstly, we added a shot to scene 2, where there would be an extreme close up on the items Leon is going to pick up. We did this as we realised that from the shot we were going to use, the items may not be clearly seen and therefore we would lose some of crucial information that will create the anticipation and excitement in the film.

Secondly, in scene 3 shot 1 we saw that the shot we had anticipated to use would have to be slightly altered, where both Lily and Leon will now come down the stairs and bump into each other there. This is because of the different layout as we had to change location due to unseen circumstances.

In scene 14 shot 2 there will now be an extra shot to emphasis the mum's reaction to the news she is receiving as this will bring more emotion and shock to the film. This will make it seem more realistic and will hopefully bring a cinematic feel. Also in this scene, shot 6 was taken out because it was realised that we did not particularly need this shot and that it would be more suitable to have more time on shot 5.

In scene 11, we decided to not use shots 3, 4, 5, 6 from first planned; as we realised that the emphasis on the emotions would be more important in this scene, rather than having quick shots. Therefore the shots would be longer, but the effect will be more dramatic.

In scene 7, we had planned to have just one shot of Lily on the sofa, however when planning out where we were going to put the camera positions in the house, we realised that it would look better if we had a reverse shot of what is seen in shot 1 and therefore we added this shot.

Scene 10 is an argument in the kitchen and we had planned to go straight into the kitchen, however after looking at what we had planned to do, it seemed more wise to change shot 1 to an establishing shot and another at the end of the sequence. We did this because it is conventional to have establishing shots in a short film, and we hadn't used any before this.

Finally, we had committed to a particular location, however from external influences, we had to change our filming location. This led to some of the changes mentioned above, however after looking at the new location we realised that the layout of the house isn't very different to our first planned house. But, we did need to change some camera positions slightly to suit the new layout, but this did not take too much effort or time.

Summary-
These changes we have made in accordance to the film are because we wanted to make our film as aesthetically professional and technical as possible, and so these changes will hopefully do this. Also, because of the changed location, we needed to plan again where the camera and lights were going to be placed and so some of the changes made were necessary because of the layout of the house. These changes made to the film have caused some hastle and time spent. However it was necessary and we now have a clear plan of what we need to do and when we are going to film each scene. Therefore this planning will benefit us in many ways, which would not have happened if we did not do this planning.
